In 2019, Cristina Torres Caban, Stephanie Pena, Lindsey Backman, and Katherine Mizrahi Rodriguez came together to discuss the need for an umbrella organization to unite LatinX graduate students at MIT, and shortly after, they co-founded MIT’s LatinX Graduate Student Association (LGSA). Recognizing that we are an underrepresented population at the MIT, LGSA was built to unify the diverse collective of graduate students that share a common connection to the Latin American diaspora and use this community to promote the achievement and growth of the MIT LatinX student.
